About Cardio Exercise Equipment

Cardio exercise is essential for a healthy heart and overall fitness. Cardio equipment makes it easy to fit in an effective workout in a short period of time. Gyms have a wide range of cardio equipment for members to use or you can create a home gym by purchasing a few pieces of cardio equipment.
  1. Treadmill

    • A treadmill is wonderful basic piece of cardio equipment that allows you to walk, run or jog in any type of weather. You can set the speed and incline to create a customized workout.

    Elliptical Trainer

    • Elliptical trainers are easier on your joints than many other cardio machines and they provide a great full body workout as many models incorporate the arms as well as the legs, increasing the cardio effect.

    Exercise Bikes

    • Exercise bikes, or stationary bikes, provide a great lower body workout during the winter months or during pregnancy when a fall from a traditional bike could be potentially dangerous. Exercise bikes generally track the distance and speed during your workout. They are not, however, weight-bearing, so be certain to incorporate weight-bearing exercises as part of a complete workout routine for healthy bones.

    Stair Climbers

    • Stair climbing machines use the same muscles that you use while climbing up stairs but allow you to work out at a consistent pace. Monitors track the distance climbed as well as your heart rate and general pace.

    Rowing Machines

    • Rowing machines provide a great full body cardio workout but can especially strengthen your arm muscles. They can be hard on your back, however, so use caution when considering this machine.
