How to Keep Air in a Fitness Ball
A fitness ball is an essential part of a home or studio gym providing instability and variety to a large number of different moves. But keeping air in a fitness ball can be a challenge. If not filled correctly they can be prone to leaking or even bursting. However, taking a few precautions can lengthen the life of your ball considerably and cause them to lose significantly less air.
Things You'll Need
- Hand pump
- Room temperature gauge/thermometer
- Measuring tape 100 inches long
- Soft cloth
- Basin of warm soapy water
Instructions
-
Correctly Inflate the Ball to Prevent Air Escaping
-
1
Ensure room temperature is between 65 and 90 degrees Farenheit. Temperatures outside of these extremes can damage ball during inflating.
-
2
Use hand pump to inflate ball to required size. Do not overfill ball -- this could put undue stress on seams and create small tears that will leak air.
-
3
Use tape measure to measure circumference of ball. This helps prevent overfilling. A 22 inch diameter ball should be no more than 68 inches circumference at widest point, and a 30 inch ball should be no more than 92 inches circumference.
-
4
With soft cloth and basin of soapy water, clean ball to remove dirt and dust. Do not use chemicals that could weaken ball surface.
