What Items Do I Need for P90X?

P90X is a 12-week workout program designed to get you in the best shape of your life. The program uses the concept of muscle confusion to keep the results coming over the entire 90 days. P90X is a program easily done at home with limited equipment necessary to complete all of the workouts.
  1. Chinup Bar

    • The chinup bar is not a requirement to complete the P90X program, but if you want to achieve maximum results, the bar is necessary. Pullups and chinups included in three of the 12 discs and are a major aspect of all back workouts. Chinup bars can be straight bars mounted anywhere, or over-the-door bars can be slid on and off as needed without damaging your trim. Many over-the-door bars have weight restrictions for safe usage.

    Resistance Bands or Dumbbells

    • Resistance bands or dumbbells are needed to complete most of the exercises in the P90X videos. Resistance bands might also replace the chinup bar for those not wanting to invest in the bar or if you struggle with pullsups. Resistance bands are cheaper and are easy to travel with. Dumbbells' advantages include keeping resistance consistent throughout the exercise.

    Yoga Equipment

    • Many P90X exercises are completed on the knees or in a seated position. Having a yoga or plyo mat helps cushion these parts during the exercise. The P90X series also includes a yoga workout that is completed once or twice a week. If you are a beginner or want to get an extra stretch, having a yoga block will also help.

    Pushup Bar

    • The pushup bar is designed to give extra depth at the bottom of the pushup, which is an important aspect of the P90X series. Another benefit of the bars is that it changes the position of the wrist and makes completing the pushup easier.
