Lay on your back holding your weights, arms outstretched to either side. Slowly raise the weights up so that they meet in the middle, directly over your chest. Be sure to keep your arms as straight as possible. Do three sets of 12 reps and use a pair of light to medium hand weights to do this exercise, increasing the weight as you progress.

      Do push-ups. Push-ups, whether they are modified (done on your knees) or full push-ups, are a simple yet effective exercise to get the results you are looking for. Do three sets of 10 reps of any type of push-up and rest for 30 seconds in between.

      Do butterfly presses. Butterfly presses require only your weights and a sturdy chair to do. The My Secret Health website suggests sitting on the chair with a straight back while holding your weights. Raise your arms gradually from the sides bringing them up to shoulder height. Hold for several seconds before slowly lowering them down. Do three sets of 10 to 12 reps of this exercise.
