How to Do a Body Roll on Your Toes

The body roll is a dance move created from a mixture of hip-hop and Zumba dance moves. The body roll combines four individual motions in one, creating a continuous snakelike movement. There are several ways to complete the body roll, but one of the better variations is a roll from head to toe. The body roll is often added into choreographed dances as a quick, eye-catching move.

Instructions

    • 1

Place your feet shoulder-width apart and keep your body in a straight upright position. Bow your head, then bring it up toward the ceiling.

    • 2

Move your shoulders back and push your chest forward while maintaining a straight position with your body and your head still facing upwards at the ceiling.

    • 3

Keeping your head upwards and shoulders back, push your torso backward as if you were reclining or falling. Be careful when you first try this motion to not fall backwards.

    • 4

Create a sitting motion by lifting your heels off the floor and standing on your tip-toes.

    • 5

Put the routine together to a count. The first count is with your head up, the second rolling your shoulders, the third reclining your torso backward, the fourth a sitting motion, and counts five through eight waiting until the next eight count begins.
