1
Contact your local YMCA, gym or rec center and ask about their cardio kickboxing classes. Ask if they offer classes that are geared toward beginners with basic moves and a lower intensity. Also, ask about the instructors. You will want to find a class that is taught by someone who is a certified kickboxing or Tae-Bo instructor. If the instructor holds a brown belt (2nd kyu) or higher they will be more than qualified to instruct you in proper technique. Ask if you can attend one session before signing up to decide if it is the right class for you.

2
Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move without restrictions. The right shoes are extremely important as well. Cross trainers will give you support during all the movements that are required during the class. If the session involves using a workout bag, you may want to consider a good pair of bag gloves to keep your hands protected from abrasion.

3
Evaluate your current fitness level. Start out slow and stay at your own pace instead of trying to keep up with others who have been in the class for a long time. Pushing yourself too far, too fast, will only send you backward in your goals. Keep your kicks low at first until you develop good technique and have increased your flexibility. Use controlled movements so that you do not overextend yourself during the workout and cause injury.

4
Drink plenty of water before, during, and after the kickboxing session. The more you perspire during the workout, the more fluids you need to take in to keep your body from becoming dehydrated. If you don't supply your body with the required water, it cannot perform correctly during the cardio kickboxing class.
