How to Improve Reaction Time
Instructions
-
-
1
Keep your body relaxed. Tension locks your muscles and makes it difficult to move.
-
2
Focus on both the ball and the opponent. Read your opponent's body language to anticipate his next move. Anticipation means being able to predict what will happen next and be programmed to respond.
-
3
Time your split step perfectly. A split step is the movement that is made just before the opponent makes contact, right before you have to react. The split step starts your body moving so that when you have to fully react, you're already in position. The timing of the split step has to be right, as energy will fade if it's used too early.

4
Practice a lot. Mastering the game will help you improve anticipation, timing and focus. The more you practice and play, the easier it will be to predict scenarios and anticipate the next move. Drill with others on your team to emulate possible scenarios. Find a coach or trainer who can help you master your skills.

5
Do activities in your free time that promote hand-eye coordination and reaction time. Some people report that playing video games improves their reaction time.
-
6
Keep your body fit and healthy. Exercise, get enough sleep and eat right. Avoid junk food and processed food. Make sure you get enough fruits and vegetables.
