How to Tightly Wrap Your Upper Leg
Elastic bandages are used to reduce swelling, secure wound bandages and improve blood flow. Whether you bruise your upper leg or strain the muscles in your thighs, you can use elastic bandages to protect your upper leg from further stress and strain. The process is simple, but requires attention to detail. Remember, you want the bandage to be tight, but you don't want to cut off your circulation.
Things You'll Need
- Elastic bandage wrap
- Large safety pins
Instructions

1
Unravel one to two inches of the elastic bandage from the roll and place it just above your knee. Use your hand to hold the bandage in place as you start to wrap your leg.
-
2
Smooth any wrinkles and eliminate any slack as you slowly guide the bandage around your leg. Wrap it tightly, slightly overlapping each round of bandage as you go up.
-
3
Hold the bandage taut as you pull the elastic bandage up and over your leg. Aim for several layers instead of stretching the bandage too wide.
-
4
Wrap as high up your leg as possible and then secure the bandage onto itself.
-
5
Use a safety pin to secure the final flap of the elastic bandage to the layer of wrap below it.
