How to Do Prone Kneeling Leg Extensions

The prone kneeling leg extension is an exercise popularized by Jessica Simpson as she prepared for her role as Daisy Duke. It is a Pilates-based exercise that works your legs, stomach and butt, strengthening the major muscles in all three and contributing to firmness. Of course, it is important to note that a firm, toned body comes with diet change and other cardiovascular exercise -- it is not possible to "spot reduce" trouble areas with exercises like this one. Rather, you need to combine this exercise with a general lifestyle change to get the results you want.

Instructions

      Lie on the floor and rise up to your hands and knees.

      Ensure your spine is straight. A good way to do this is to try to make your chest as big as possible while pushing your stomach out.

      Lift one leg until it is lined up with your spine. Try to imagine a rod going through your entire body.

      Bring your leg back down and repeat with the other leg.
