How to Do an Inch Worm

Bodily injuries are common for people who don't work out regularly. If you've pulled a muscle while performing regular routines or you've suffered a back sprain, then odds are you need to exercise those muscles and keep them flexible. If you have a busy schedule, it's understandable that you can't fit in a regular exercise routine. But you don't need a heavy workout to keep your body loose and limber. Quick and simple stretching exercises, which can be performed in the morning or at night, can do that job for you. This exercise is called the inch worm and can be done in a matter of minutes.

Instructions

    • 1

Place the mat on the floor or ground. Make sure you have enough room to exercise.

    • 2

Kneel on the mat, then balance yourself with your hands, palms down. Make sure that your hands are shoulder width apart.

    • 3

Do the same with your feet, again making sure they are placed in the same width as your shoulders.

    • 4

While your upper body is lifted, make sure that your butt is raised high and your head bent downward so that you can see the heels of your feet.

    • 5

Begin the exercise by walking slowly towards your hands. If your body movements are still stiff, press your fingertips against the mat and keep your knees slightly bent.

    • 6

Walk your hands so that your are back out in front of you.

    • 7

Repeat the exercise. You should complete this in a minute.
