How to Relax Muscles Before Bed

Meditation exercises are a good way to relax before bed. Think of each muscle as you lye in bed and relax it as you think of each part of the body. Try slightly wiggling that part of the body to focus on it; for instance if you are going from toe to head, you would start by slightly wiggling your toes and then relaxing them and so on.

Stretch your muscles before sleep. It may feel as if you are warming up for a marathon but remember to perform the stretches slowly and to breath deeply while performing them. Stretching your muscles will not only relax your muscles but also improve circulation over time.

Massage your muscles. This is a method that is well known and can be very beneficial to healing your muscles in addition to relaxing them. A good hand massage or one from an electric massaging product usually work best and will suffice in most situations.

Take a warm bath or shower. Create a relaxing atmosphere by playing soft music, and maybe involving relaxing scents from candles or incence. If you have a shower head that has a massaging nozzle, now is the time to enjoy the best of both worlds with a warm massage.

Consider getting a prescription. If nothing you have tried works or you are not able to perform some of these activities, then you may want to seek medical help. Talk to your doctor to see if this option is right for you.
