Pedometer Weight Loss
-
Average Steps
-
Wear your pedometer for a few days and function as normal. Do not add in any extra steps for the purpose of weight loss yet. Record the total steps each day you wear the pedometer. Add the days' totals together and divide by the number of days to get your average number of daily steps.
Step it Up
-
The average person walks about 3,000 steps per day. To burn extra calories you will need to walk between 6,000 and 10,000 steps each day. Wear your pedometer everyday and slowly add more steps into your daily routine. The ultimate goal should be 10,000 steps dally.
Adding Steps
-
There are a number of simple ways you can add steps to your daily routine. You can walk places you would normally drive. Park farther from your destination when you do drive. Take the stairs instead of the elevator. Or plan a leisurely walk during lunch or after dinner.
