      Start by putting batteries in your Dr. Scholl's pedometer. It should begin working immediately.

      Clip your pedometer on the waistband of your pants or on a belt about midway between your side and belly button. Be sure to keep the Dr. Scholl's pedometer in a horizontal position, parallel to the ground.

      As a test to check to see if your pedometer is positioned correctly, press "Reset" to zero. Take 25 steps, counting them to yourself. Take a look at the pedometer. If it reads anywhere between 24 and 26 steps, then it's in the right place.

      Now start walking and leave the pedometer on for as long as you like.
