1
Choose the type of water aerobics program that you wish to start. Both shallow water and deep water workouts are available. The shallow water aerobics are likely to have some of the simpler moves for beginners while deeper water aerobics are for people who are looking for a more intense cardio workout.
-
2
Find a gym or aquatic center that offers water aerobics. A good place to start is your local YMCA. YMCAs across the country have water aerobics programs with certified instructors.
-
3
Purchase a water aerobics DVD. If you have access to a pool, then you may choose to simply watch a DVD to learn some water aerobics techniques. Consider purchasing the water aerobics DVD produced by Water Gym.
-
4
Get a friend to join in with you. Water aerobics is definitely an activity that is better enjoyed if you have a companion to start with you.
-
5
Research some of the basic moves. If you know basic aerobic moves, then you are likely going to be able to complete the moves found in a water aerobics class. Jumping jacks, marching, and leg lifts are just a few of the moves that you're likely to encounter.
