Water Therapy Programs

Water therapy involves movements and exercises inside a pool. Water therapy can be used for physical fitness, as well as physical therapy. There are several different types of water therapy programs that aim to help in different ways.
  1. Pain Relief

    • Water therapy can be used to treat pain associated with arthritis, trauma and muscle spasms. Both the water's temperature and pressure is adjusted based on the pain being treated. Cold water can be used to reduce swelling in limbs and joints. Warm water increases circulation, which helps relax muscles.

    Peripheral Circulation

    • When there is little circulation in the feet and lower limbs, it can result in slow-healing injuries. Water therapy increases peripheral circulation, which allows oxygen and nutrition to get where they need to go. Those with peripheral vascular disease can benefit from this water therapy program.

    Physical Therapy

    • Water provides resistance, so moving around in water can build up muscles without putting too much strain on the body. This type of water therapy program can benefit someone recovering from a sports injury or trying to recover from back pain.

    Flexibility

    • Water provides buoyancy, which is an upward acting force. This natural motion can push limbs further than they are able to go on land. It improves the body's flexibility.
