Instructions

    • 1

Learn the basics of karate well. Aspire to become at least well versed and perfect basic moves before attempting a karate choreography routine.

    • 2

Decide how long your routine needs to be. Refer to any contest or expo rules to determine if you need to accompany your routine with music or if it is to be done traditionally.

    • 3

Work with a favored karate instructor to help you come up with a good sequence of moves that best fit your style. Try to keep your routine within your difficulty level while adding a few moves that are advanced.

    • 4

Choreograph your routine in eight counts like one would a dance routine. Incorporate as many kicks as you do punches and emphasize acrobatic movements for showmanship.

    • 5

End your routine with a series of 3 or 4 moves that are advanced and showcase your athleticism and showmanship. Finish up your moves with a bow, make sure you practice your routine for at least a week straight (full out) before performing it for others.
