Kung Fu Panther Style Techniques

Kung fu is a Chinese martial art. Within this discipline, there are a number of different schools that practice strategies patterned from animals. These schools developed by emulating these animals and adapting kung fu's existing techniques and philosophies. One of these styles, the panther style, is based off of the vicious hunting cats.
  1. Drunken Panther

    • One technique that a panther may use is called the drunken panther. This isn't a single move, but rather a method of deception and misdirection. This may be similar to drunken boxing, in which a fighter will stumble about and falsely telegraph maneuvers to throw an opponent off-guard. The drunken-panther move focuses on the panther's ability to manipulate the opponent into opening up the guard and giving the panther a striking place. This can end a fight in a single, decisive blow.

    Grass Puma

    • The grass-puma technique is another adjustment in a panther's attack strategy and style. When a kung-fu practitioner uses the grass puma, he essentially is imitating the cat's stance and terrain use during a fight. If there is an open room, there isn't an advantage. But, if there are scattered poles, tables and chairs (or outside where there are trees), then a panther can slip through a covered area and attack from new angles and unexpected places. This can throw an enemy off-guard.

    Black Panther

    • The black-panther technique imitates the ferocious cat's killing blows. A panther stalks prey, watches it and attacks at its weakest point. This is considered to be a "fire" attack, meaning it should be swift, sudden and hard. The technique's goal is to attack and move in ways that end the fight in the swiftest way possible, disabling the opponent so quickly that she can't continue to resist the panther practitioner.
