Instructions

    • 1

Face forward with your feet about shoulders' width apart. Step forward on one leg with your knee bent. Your back leg will be straight (front stance).

    • 2

Open your striking hand (on the same-side as your front leg) with your fingers extended and touching together.

    • 3

Arch the hand backward, forcing the palm side of the knuckles forward.

    • 4

Keep your thumb next to your fingers, but not folding into the palm.

    • 5

Curve the tips of your fingers in slightly while keeping the hand arched backward.

    • 6

Position your striking hand at your waist, with the fingers pointing down and the palm facing forward.

    • 7

Pull your fingers back so that the heel of your hand is slightly more forward and will strike the target first. Tighten your hand so there are no gaps.

    • 8

Strike forward with your hand, twisting your wrist immediately before impact so that your finger point up with the heel of your hand forward.

    • 9

Return immediately to your original position.
