1
Determine the size of the pool balls you have. The standard size for a pool ball is 2 1/4". However, games like snooker have similar balls that are an almost unnoticeable difference in size. So make sure you have been playing pool with standard pool balls before replacing one with a standard pool ball.

2
Determine the size of the cue ball if that is the ball you need to replace. If you have a coin-operated pool table, you probably have a bigger-than-regulation cue ball so that it is returned after a scratch. Because of that, you will have to choose a bigger cue ball.
-
3
Write down the number of the pool ball you need to replace.

4
Order a replacement pool ball straight from the company that made your original set, or straight from the billiards store where you bought it, if you want to choose an exact duplicate of the ball that was damaged or lost. However, regulation pool balls are similar enough that it usually doesn't matter if you find it elsewhere.

Find a replacement pool ball at an online billiards store, such as the two listed as Resources below. You can expect to pay in the $5 to $10 range if you are choosing a standard replacement ball.
