Pool Table Leveling Instructions
-
Determine Type of Pool Table
-
Before you can level your pool table, you'll need to know which type of pool table you own. Some pool tables have plates installed that allow for table leveling with the turn of a screw. With other models, you may need to go underneath with a jack to level the table. Still other tables can be leveled by adjusting the table's legs
Gather Tools and Materials
-
Get two or three levels of varying lengths. One should the length of the pool table for an accurate reading. Shorter levels can be used to check individual areas of the table to ensure that they are level. A jack may be helpful if you need to lift one side of the table from underneath. Asking friends for help might seem ideal in case you have to do any lifting because pool tables are extremely heavy, especially if they are made of slate. You risk injury or back pain if you try to do the lifting yourself.
Level the Pool Table
-
Using the levels, determine which sides of the table need to be raised in order to make the pool table level. Place shimming material under the legs to help level the table. Test all four sides with the levels. It does not hurt to check three or four times to be sure. You can also check your work by placing a piece of glass in the middle of the pool table and gently setting a marble on it. If the marble rolls to one side or another, you have more leveling work to do.
