1
Place a clean, damp washcloth over the nick to be repaired.
-
2
Set an iron to steam and place the steaming iron over the area for just a few seconds. Do not press the iron down hard. Just allow it to float over the surface while the steam absorbs into the washcloth. Do not allow the iron to sit for too long, as overheating or too much moisture absorption can damage the cue.

3
Remove the iron and washcloth. Burnish the area immediately, using a chamois cloth. A chamois cloth is made of soft, non-abrasive, raw leather. Rub back and forth in rapid motions using light to medium pressure. This causes friction, which forces further warmth into the nicked area. The absorbed steam from the iron combined with the friction of burnishing causes the wood in the nicked areas to expand and flatten.

4
Dry any excess moisture with a dry cloth. Place the cue upright in a cue rack, and fully allow it to air-dry.
