How to Replace a Cue Stick Tip

Repeated use combined with age can do a lot of damage to a pool cue tip and it will eventually need to be replaced. While a screw-on tip can be unscrewed and a new one screwed on in its place, a glue-on tip takes a little work.

Instructions

    • 1

Drip two or three drops of acetone on the seam between the cue stick tip and the cue stick shaft. The acetone works to dissolve the glue, making it easier to remove the cue tip.

    • 2

Wait one hour for the acetone to dissolve the glue, then slowly bend the cue stick at the seam to separate it from the shaft. Set the cue tip aside.

    • 3

Sand the excess glue down so that when you attach the replacement cue stick tip, the tip lies flat against the shaft.

    • 4

Apply two or three drops of glue to the bottom of the replacement cue stick tip.

    • 5

Attach the cue stick tip to the cue stick shaft. Hold the cue stick tip against the shaft for one minute to ensure adhesion.
