1
Choose who will shoot first.
-
2
Rack the balls. Use a triangle rack, and line the balls up by placing the frontward most ball on the designated spot on the pool table.
-
3
Strike the cue ball, and aim for the center of the rack of balls. This is called the break. If any balls go in, that player goes again. This will also determine whether this player is shooting for stripes or solids.
-
4
Hit the cue ball with your cue to try and get your designated balls into the pockets.
-
5
Switch turns once the first player doesn’t pocket any balls or hits the cue ball in the pocket instead.
-
6
Continue this mode of play until all of one player’s designated balls have gone into the pockets.
-
7
Shoot the 8 ball into a pocket to win the game. In some versions of pool, the player must call out which pocket the 8 ball is going to land in to win the game.
