How to Glue Pool Cue Tips

Billiard enthusiasts have to care for their tools, and perhaps the most important are the tips of their pool cues. An accurately glued pool cue tip provides an even and firm spot for the point of impact between the cue and the billiard ball. Gluing pool cue tips should be done in a clean, well-lit environment and requires preparation and concentration.

Instructions

    • 1

Scrape the remnants of the old cue tip with a razor blade. Sand the top of the cue with sandpaper until all the rough spots are gone. It's important to have a clean, smooth surface on which to glue your new pool cue tip.

    • 2

Prepare the new pool cue tip by sanding the bottom of it with the same piece of sandpaper used to sand the top of the pool cue. For best results, sand to the same level of smoothness on both surfaces.

    • 3

Place a small amount of cue tip glue on both the bottom of the new cue tip and the top of the pool stick.

    • 4

Adjoin the bottom of the cue tip with the top of the cue. Position the cue tip carefully, so it rests on the exact center of the cue. Keep in mind that your replacement cue tip is larger in diameter than the end of your cue.

    • 5

Hold the tip in place on the cue for about a minute until dry.

    • 6

Trim the pool cue tip with the razor blade, so the cue tip is flush with the cue. With the sandpaper and a dab of water, wet and sand the cue tip so it is smooth.
