How to Use a Jet Boat for Wake Boarding

Any boat can be used in wakeboarding, but wakeboarding behind a jet boat offers the wakeboard's rider a safety advantage: Jet boats have no propeller. This completely eliminates the danger of a propeller strike injury as the passengers are loaded and unloaded to and from the wakeboard. For the boat operator, this also means that, should a rider fall, there is no worry that the tow line dropped by the rider will become entangled in the propeller.

Instructions

    • 1

Ensure the wakeboarder is wearing a life jacket. Stop the boat at the point where you want to begin pulling the wakeboards -- unlike a boat with a propeller, you needn't stop the engine, merely take it out of gear.

    • 2

Set the wakeboards over the side and assist the wakeboarder to the board. Hand the wakeboarder the tow rope.

    • 3

Accelerate smoothly to a speed between five and 20 knots.
