How to Repair a Broken Gear Shifter on an Outboard
The gear shifter, or shift rod, on the outboard motor is what allows the boater to shift from gear to gear. Typically, outboard shift rods are pretty durable and do not require much in terms of maintenance or repair. However, if it gets bent in an accident or other mishap, the shift rod will certainly need to be replaced. Purchase replacement gear shifters at marine parts supply stores. Replacing the shifter will take an hour or so.
