How to Hook up an External Gas Can
Instructions
-
-
1
Set the gas can near the engine. Most outboards have a storage area specifically for gas cans and tanks.
-
2
Take the fuel hose off the old tank or can. Pinch the special lobster-claw on the engine and the old tank to remove the hose to prep it for use with the new can.
-
3
Pinch the engine side of the hose back into the fixture. It works much like a wall socket, with a male end on the engine and female on the hose. Pinch the claw, slide it over the plug, then release the claw to lock it onto the engine plug.
-
4
Pinch the can side of the hose and slide it onto the can's plug attachments, near the fuel nozzle. Slide the hose plug onto the can's intake plug, release the claw to lock it onto position then pull out to check the hold.
-
5
Squeeze the oval bubble in the hose to pressurize the can and pump fuel into the engine, priming both the can and the engine for restart.
