1
Open the fuel tank and use a gas can to add fuel to the tank until it is full. Close the fuel tank lid and open the oil cap on the back of the engine. Add four-stroke engine oil to the oil compartment until it is full. Close the oil cap.
-
2
Turn the fuel tank cap to the right to loosen the air vent screw. Once that is loose, turn the "Fuel Cock" underneath the front of the engine to the "Open" position. Move the "Shift" lever in the middle of the engine to the "Neutral" position and turn the "Throttle" control to the "Start" position.
-
3
Pull the "Choke" knob out all the way to open the choke. Once you have done this, slowly pull the starter handle back until you feel light resistance. As soon as you feel the resistance, pull back quickly to start the engine. It may take a few tries to get the engine started the first time.
-
4
Push the "Choke" knob back in once the engine starts. Let the engine warm up for three minutes before you begin to move. To move, turn the throttle to the lowest position and move the shift lever to the "F" position. Turn the throttle higher to move faster and turn the motor with the handle to steer. Move the shift lever into the "N" position to begin slowing down and eventually stop.
