1
Insert the ignition key into the key switch. Pull out the choke knob, next to the key switch, to its fullest extent. Clip the kill-switch tab to its place on the throttle handle, in front of the right arm rest. Move the throttle handle to its central, "Neutral" position.
-
2
Turn the key clockwise until it stops at the "Ignition-Start" position. Hold the key in this position -- to engage the electric stater -- for no more than 15 seconds, or until the engine starts.
-
3
Release the ignition key at the end of 15 seconds or when the engine starts. The key switch will turn counterclockwise, to the "Ignition" position. If the engine did not start before you released the key switch, turn the key switch to the "Off" position and wait for 15 seconds before making another attempt to start the engine.
-
4
Repeat the process of turning the key switch from "Off" to "Ignition-Start" no more than three times. If the engine does not start after three attempts, wait at least 60 seconds before attempting to start the engine again.
-
5
When the engine starts, allow it to warm up, pushing the choke knob in as it does so.
