1
Measure 8 inches from one end of the plate using a measuring tape. Mark this point with a china marker. Turn the plate over. Measure then mark a point 8 inches from the opposite end of the plate.
-
2
Insert the plate into a metal brake and shear so the line marking the 8 inch measurement faces up and 20 inches of plate extend from the brake. Make a 90 degree bend at the mark.
-
3
Turn the plate over so the mark on the other end of the plate faces up. Insert the plate into the brake until the line marking the 8 inch measurement is at the edge of the brake. Bend the plate 90 degrees.

4
Drill four 1 inch holes in one of the two parallel surfaces, using a drill press. If the kicker motor uses 1 inch mounting bolts instead of clamps, drill 1 inch holes through both the two parallel surfaces.
-
5
Hold the mounting bracket against the boat's transom. Trace around the inside of the four 1 inch holes pressed against the transom, onto the surface of the transom. Move the mounting bracket. Drill the four 1 inch holes through the transom at the locations marked, using a handheld drill and a 1 inch bit.
