1
Cut your lumber to size, including one length to 3 1/2 feet, one to 2 1/2 feet and one to 1 1/2 feet. Cut the ends of each piece to a 45-degree angle so the longest piece of the lumber is at the bottom.
-
2
Stack the lumber so the 3 1/2-foot piece is on the bottom and the angled edge is to your right side. Place the 2 1/2 foot piece on top of that so the angled edge is to your right, and add the 1 1/2 foot piece to the top, also with the angled edge on the right.
-
3
Line up the sides and left end, then attach the three pieces to each other with drywall screws. Insert the screws in two rows and at even intervals to fully secure each piece to the one beneath it. Use a minimum of eight screws per piece. Countersink the screws below the surface of the wood.
-
4
Sand the leveling ramp to remove any rough spots and splintered sections of wood.
-
5
Wipe the ramp down with a tack cloth to remove any dust from the wood surface.
-
6
Paint the ramp. Choose a high-quality paint made for exterior use. The paint protects the wood from weather conditions.
