Things You Need For a Travel Trailer

Before you and your family set out on your camping vacation, there are a number of things you should make sure your travel trailer is stocked with. Just like your home, your travel trailer will be providing shelter, safety and a place to eat while you are away. Taking the time to stock it correctly before you leave will ensure a safe and fun time.
  1. Emergency Supplies

    • No one ever likes to think of the worst thing that can happen on vacation, but being prepared means doing just that. Your travel trailer should have a well-stocked first aid kit that includes everything from bug repellent to splints. Your first aid kit should contain a variety of bandages, medical tape, sunblock, lotions for sunburns and insect bites. If any member of your family is allergic to certain bugs, the necessary medicine to treat the bite should also be included.

    Games

    • You hope the weather is good, but just in case you do get a wet or cold day, you want to have some games on hand to fill in the time. Carry three to four different board games depending on the age of your children. A deck of cards, checkers and chess are also items that can go a long way to pass the time on a cold and wet camping day.

    Food

    • You will need to eat. Even if your trip is a camping or fishing trip, you will still need to have some food items in your trailer. Staples such as bread, water, fruit and cereals will get you through most days. Stopping at a roadside fruit or vegetable stand on your trip will be a good opportunity to pick up fresh items. Keeping granola, cereal bars or a selection of nuts on hand helps fill in the gaps between meals.

    Linens, Towels and Blankets

    • Keeping a supply of linens on hand will allow you to change the bedding should they become wet or dirty, and means you will not have to disrupt your camping trip to go to a laundry to wash them. A supply of towels ranging in size from hand to beach towels and blankets for cold nights either in bed or by the campfire should also be included on your packing list.
