On the Banks of Otter Creek

The Otter Creek Campground sits at the confluence of Otter Creek and the Susquehanna River, about 20 minutes north of Delta. Nearly 100 campsites are available, many of them with water and 30- to 50-amp electrical hookups. The campground includes modern restrooms, hot showers, laundry facilities and an RV dumping station. Lots of trees provide dappled shade throughout the campground. A boat launch on the river is about a quarter-mile away, but you can also fish for bass and trout right from shore in the campground. A current Pennsylvania fishing license is required. Bait, tackle and camping supplies are available at the camp store. A picnic area, game room and children's playground are open to all guests. Campsites are available on a nightly and seasonal basis from April to October, and you can find rates and reservation information on the campground's official website.
Camping on the Lake

A little under an hour west of Delta, Codorus State Park is home to 190 shady, secluded campsites. The sites are open to tents and RVs, and many of them include 30- or 50-amp electrical hookups. A few tents-only sites are available in a quiet area separate from the main campground. Centrally-located bathhouses provide hot showers and modern restroom facilities, and each campsite includes a campfire ring and picnic table. Codorus State Park spans more than 3,400 acres around the shores of Lake Marburg, an excellent bass fishing lake. Visitors can launch a boat on the lake -- motors up to 20 horsepower are permitted -- or explore the surrounding forest on 19 miles of hiking trails, many of which are also open to horses and bicycles. Dutch Country Camping

White Oak Campground is nestled in the heart of Pennsylvania's Dutch Country, where farms dot the landscape and horse-drawn buggies are a common sight on quiet back roads. The campground has been family owned and operated since 1969 and is one of the few campgrounds in the region to offer full-hookup campsites with water, sewer, 30-amp electricity and wireless Internet. Primitive non-electric sites are also available. Each campsite includes a picnic table and campfire ring, along with easy access to modern restrooms and hot showers. Groceries, ice, firewood and various camping supplies are available at the general store. White Oak campground is a short drive from many local attractions, including antique shops, flea markets and numerous Amish roadside stands that sell produce, baked goods and crafts. Rolling Hills and Fertile Fields

It takes a little over an hour to get from Delta to Gifford Pinchot State Park, a 2,300-acre park of wooded hillsides and former farmers' fields. This park includes one of the largest state park campgrounds in Pennsylvania, with more than 300 sites at the southern end of 340-acre Pinchot Lake. Primitive sites are available, along with sites with 30- or 50-amp electricity, and all are open to both tents and RVs. Many campsites are right on the water. The small, quiet lake is perfect for canoes and kayaks, and 18 miles of trails wind their way through the surrounding countryside. Yellow trail markers indicate hiking-only trails, while trails marked in red are also open to mountain bikes or horseback riders. Contact the Pennsylvania DCNR for reservations.
