How to Make a Camper Flagpole

RVs and campers offer outdoor enthusiasts the ability to take a few comforts of home along on a road trip or out to the campgrounds. Many camper owners also enjoy displaying pride for their country by flying their nation's flag. Campers generally don't come equipped with a flagpole, but you can make your own flagpole to mount on your camper for your next trip.

Instructions

    • 1

Decide how long you want your flagpole to be. This is often dictated by where on the camper you plan on mounting your flagpole and how large of a flag you have. On most campers you can mount the small flagpole -- 4 feet to 6 feet long --on the side and take it down before you leave.

Cut a piece of 1 inch diameter aluminum tubing to your needed length using a saw. File down the edges and install a 1 inch diameter plastic cap on the cut end. You can buy ornamental flag caps, such as golden or brass eagles, if you prefer.

    • 3

Measure the flag from grommet to grommet. Mark the distance between grommets on the pole. Screw two grommet hook brackets in place on the pole at the measured points.

Install a 1-inch diameter aluminum pole wall mount on the side of your camper. You can place the wall mount anywhere you prefer, just ensure to place it high enough so that the flag doesn't touch the ground.
