How to Repair a Jayco Curtain

Jayco makes a range of camper trailers. The company offers pop-ups, hard-shell lightweight campers and fifth-wheel-style towing campers. As part of the standard options in the campers, Jayco includes privacy curtains for bunks and sleeping quarters as well as shower curtains in the bathrooms and shower stalls. The privacy curtains are made from a fire-retardant nylon. Shower curtains are basic plastic and when they wear out, simply replace. If the privacy curtains tear or have holes, take the time to repair them with suitable nylon cordura patches.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove the curtain rod and take the curtain off the rod. Set the curtain on your sewing area counter. Isolate the tear or rip in the curtain.

    • 2

Cut out a patch of the cordura nylon patch material approximately 1/2 inch bigger than the damaged portion of the curtain. Pinch the tear or rip together. Apply a coating of seam sealer to the back of the patch.

    • 3

Press the patch to the curtain's tear area. Hold it flat and place pressure on the patch for five minutes to set the seam sealer. Let the seam sealer cure for six to eight hours.

    • 4

Sew around the edges of the patch after the seam sealer is cured. This provides an added layer of attachment between the patch and the curtain.

    • 5

Inspect the curtain rod and the rings. If the rod is bent or any rings are broken or missing, take advantage of the rod being down to replace or bend back into position (go slow and do not force the aluminum to bend. Go in very small measurements to bring it back straight).

    • 6

Place the curtain back onto the rings and rod and place back into the Jayco camper.
