1
Use the tape measure to measure the distance from one side of the canoe to the other where the seat will be located.
-
2
Cut the two pieces of the 1 inch by 1 inch wood to the length measured across the seat.
-
3
Cut two pieces of 1 inch by 1 inch wood to 18 inches long.
-
4
Position the long 1 inch by 1 inch pieces 18 inches apart. Place the cut 18-inch pieces of wood so they are perpendicular between the long pieces and create a square frame for the seat. Secure the pieces in place with wood screws. Place the screws through the long pieces and into the ends of the 18-inch pieces

Secure the end of the nylon strapping to the underside of the seat frame with the staple gun. Start the strapping in one corner of the seat frame. Wrap the nylon across to the top of the seat and to the underside of the frame on the other side. Staple the nylon into place and cut the strapping. Position each strap so there aren't any spaces between the straps. Repeat this process until nylon strapping has covered the width of the seat in one direction.

Secure the end of the nylon strapping to the underside of the seat frame along the other side of the frame. Weave the nylon through the previously secured nylon strapping with an alternating over and under pattern. Secure the nylon strapping to the underside of the frame on the other side with the staple gun. Cut the nylon strapping. Repeat the process until the strapping has reached all the way across the seat and the entire seat is woven.
