Climbing Gyms for Kids

Kids have a natural ability and desire to climb, just ask the young mother who is constantly pulling her toddler off things. Climbing is great exercise and provides an opportunity for children to practice problem solving skills. As recreation or sport, climbing gyms are very popular places to go for children of all ages.
  1. Climbing Clubs

    • For sport or pleasure, rock climbing gyms are popular.

Clubs featuring rock climbing walls and other types of climbing apparatus are widely available. For a membership or admission fee, children and their families can enjoy learning a new sport with the guidance of skilled trainers. Many facilities offer party plans for youth groups, families and even businesses.

    Young Children

    • Inflatables are a safe climb for youngsters.

Gyms featuring inflatables and climbers for little ones have become very popular. Children ages 3 and up can safely play without concern. Should they fall on an inflatable, it's a cushiony bounce and they're up and at it again. Entertainment clubs for little ones combine inflatables for climbing and bouncing with games, costumed characters, flashing lights, prizes and refreshments. Families can go on their own or schedule an event like a birthday party for their children and friends to come and enjoy.

    Playgrounds

    • Playgrounds were the only "climbing gyms" years ago.

Playgrounds may very well be the first "climbing gyms." Jungle gyms have been a focal point of children's playgrounds since they were first invented in 1920. A maze of bent, colorful pipework, children can climb and hang on the "monkey bars" for hours on end. Today's versions are much more elaborate and just as enjoyable.
