Dart Board Baseball Rules

There are two types of baseball darts. One is played on a standard dart board and the other is played on a board that is on the reverse side of some dart boards. Both games can be played with at least two players and the first version can be played with nine players on each team.
  1. Standard Dart Board Set-Up

    • The object of the game is to be the player who scores the most runs in a game. Write the numbers one through nine in ascending order on the scoreboard. Players' names are written in a batting order across the top. In batting order, each player throws the darts. For the first inning, each player must aim at the number one on the dartboard. In the second inning, each player must try to hit the number two and so on to the number nine.

    Rules for Standard Dart Board

    • Each player throws three darts in each inning. If the player hits the thin outer ring on the number that coincides with the inning, that player gets two runs. If a player hits the thin inner ring (not the bull's-eye) inside the inning number, that player gets three runs. If a player hits anywhere else on the board but the bull's-eye in the inning number, that player gets one run. If the score is tied after nine innings and extra innings are needed, each player tries to hit the bull's-eye. The player to hit a bull's-eye in extra innings wins.

    Baseball Board on Reverse Side

    • Some dart boards come equipped with a baseball dart board on the reverse side. A baseball diamond is drawn out and takes up the majority of the board. At each corner of the diamond is a number, resembling the three bases and home plate in regular baseball. Words on the board say "double play," "safe hit," "stolen base," "strike," "ball" and so on.

    Reverse Dart Board Rules

    • The object of the game is to score as many runs as possible before getting out, just as with regular baseball. Each team comes up to bat in its half of the inning. Each player "bats," or throws darts, until he makes it to base or gets out. Like with regular baseball, a foul ball counts as a strike. Once a team gets three outs, the next team comes up to bat.

Players have to keep track of the score and who is on base at all times. If a player hits "double play," add two outs to the score but runners stay on the bases. If a player makes it to a base, she moves the other batters who are on base. "HR" means home run and "H" counts as a hit, moving the batter to first base. Four balls count as a walk and three strikes count as an out. Play for nine innings and go into extra innings if it's a tie game.
