1
Find your charter boat and captain through the Manzanillo Tourism Travel Guide or through your hotel's concierge service to ensure a reputable and safe charter service. If you do not speak Spanish and the charter service does not speak English, ask the concierge to make the arrangements and translate for you. Many concierge services are offered as part of hotel or resort fees, however, if the charter was exceptionally good, tip the concierge as a sign of gratitude.

Determine if you wish to go deep sea fishing for shark, marlin, sailfish or mahi-mahi, or inshore for snook, coba, jacks and mackerel. Ask the charter captain about the different options and fees associated with each. Again, use the concierge to translate if necessary. Be sure to ask the captain if they arrange the needed Mexico fishing licenses or if you need to secure one on your own. To save hassles, go with captains that arrange the licenses through their service, or get one prior to arrival in Mexico through the Mexbound.com website.

Pack sunscreen, sunhat, long-sleeved shirt, polarized sunglasses and any cameras or journals you use for the trips. Wear soft-soled shoes on the boat. Inquire about lunch and beverages or if the boat has iced coolers to store your own food and drinks. If the charter does not provide lunch or drinks, pack your own and bring a minimum of one liter of water per person per hour or fishing. Bring your fishing license if the charter does not provide the needed license.

Arrange for ground transportation to the harbor if the charter services doe not provide the service. If taking a taxi, have the resort or hotel concierge arrange for a taxi the night before the trip departure. Secure a set time for the taxi pickup at your resort or hotel.
