How to Repair the Bent Tips of Bamboo Rods

Bamboo makes a great fishing pole that will last for years if it receives the proper care. Sometimes bamboo rod tips can become bent. This usually occurs due to poor storage or heavy fishing. The rod tip can be corrected, but you must take time and apply as little heat and pressure as possible while straightening. Bamboo is a grass, not a wood, so be gentle with it.

      Place the hairdryer on a surface, setting straight up so it can run without being held.

      Pass the bamboo tip through the hot air, applying light pressure in the opposite direction of the bend. Place one hand on each side of bend in the rod to apply the pressure. Go slow and apply as little heat as possible.

      Stop after a few minutes and check if the bend is straightened. If it is not straight enough, repeat Step 2.
