How to Make a Wall Mount Fishing Pole Holder

Keeping your fishing rods safely stored can be challenging due to their shape, the tangling hazard of the line and hook, and their delicacy. Creating a simple wall mounting rack allows your poles to be up and out of harm's way and makes them easy to find and move once fishing season rolls around.

Instructions

    • 1

Locate a place on a wall you would like to mount the fishing poles. This location should ideally be out of a heavy traffic area.

    • 2

Use the stud finder to locate the studs on the wall. Mark their locations lightly with a pencil.

    • 3

Decide how many poles you want to mount on the rack. Place a bike hook at the height you want the highest pole to be based on your arm's reach. Put the bike hook where the stud was marked. Tap it in gently with the hammer until it begins to grab. Turn the hook clockwise until it is snug to the wall and the hook part is turned to create a cradle for the pole to rest in.

    • 4

Place another hook at the same height as the last one located over a stud. Attach the hook to the wall in the same manner as the last hook. Test the pole in the hook rack to make sure it is accurately spaced for good support.

    • 5

Repeat the hook placement process down the wall to create an adequate number of hook supports for the number of fishing poles you wish to store. Vertical spacing of the hooks will be determined based on your height (ease of reach), total number of poles to be stored and your aesthetic preference for the spacing of the rack.
