How to Make a Fly Rod Holder
Things You'll Need
- 2-by-6-inch wood, 8 feet long
- Tape measure
- Saw
- Screws
- Drill
- Screwdriver bit
- PVC pipe, 1 1/2-inch diameter
- Drill bits
Instructions
-
-
1
Cut the plank into two 1-foot-long sections and one 6-foot-long section.
-
2
Screw the 1-foot-long sections to each end of the 6-foot-long section, creating an H.
-
3
Cut 11 pieces of 1-foot-long PVC.
-
4
Drill a pair of holes through each piece of PVC, with a hole 2 inches from one end of pipe and a hole 4 inches from the same end, using a bit just larger than the threaded section of your screws.
-
5
Drill a pair of holes on each piece of PVC, directly opposite the other holes, creating the ability to look through the pipe, using a bit slightly larger than your screw heads.
-
6
Screw six of the pipes on one side of the 6-foot-long piece of plank, starting 6 inches from one end piece, with an additional pipe every foot until the last is 6 inches from the opposite end piece. To screw the pieces on, place the small holes against the wood, then insert a screw and the screwdriver though the larger hole in the pipes to drive them.
-
7
Screw the remaining pipes on the opposite side of the rack, with the first pipe 1 foot from one side piece and an additional pipe every foot. The rack will thus have a pipe every six inches, alternating the side of the rack between adjacent pipes.
-
8
Place the handle of your fly fishing rods into the pipes to hold them upright.
