How do I Adjust a North Face Terra 60?

The North Face Terra 60 is a large-sized, high-volume backpack designed for multi-day excursions. The backpack is fully adjustable and features both shoulder straps and a hip belt. When adjusting the straps and hip belt, you want to achieve an approximate weight distribution of 75 percent on your hips and 25 percent on your shoulders. This preferred weight distribution offers you greater control and comfort.

Instructions

    • 1

Place the backpack on your back. Place one shoulder through the shoulder strap and then use your free arm to maneuver the backpack's other shoulder strap over your free shoulder.

    • 2

Fasten the hip belt. You want the hip belt to sit slightly over your hip bones. Pull the hip belt adjustment strap tight. You don't want to feel any pressure or weight on your shoulders.

    • 3

Pull the first shoulder strap adjustment. You want the shoulder strap to feel snug but not tight on your shoulder. You want the majority of the backpack's weight, approximately 75 percent, over your hips. Overly tightening the shoulder straps will redistribute the weight from your hips to your shoulders. Repeat for the other shoulder strap adjustment.
