1
Follow the footsteps Take off your shoes and socks and simply put one foot in front of the other. If the beach is too littered or stony you can wear trainers instead of going barefoot. Follow the line of the sea to stay on the soft wet sand. Allow the occasional wave to lap over your feet.
Breathe in the salty air and enjoy the feeling of well-being.

2
Useful for stony areas. Emphasise each movement, push forward on the heel, dig your toes into the sand and push yourself forward into each step. The higher the resistance in the sand, the more calories you will burn.
Swing your arms as you walk to get your heart pumping.
Change pace, slower then faster, to really work your body.

3
Enjoy the quiet. Build up your walking times and distance. An initial 15 minute walk is enough for someone with very low fitness levels. Try to walk three or four times a week. Each time walk a little further or a little faster.
-
4
Revel in your surroundings. Take in the majestic beauty of the ocean. Listen for the sounds of the seabirds and the waves breaking. Walking in sand is about the whole experience.
-
5
Clean your feet thoroughly with a rubdown with a towel before putting socks and shoes back on. The feet will feel softer due to the abrasive action of the sand. When you get home try to shower and moisturize to keep your feet in tip-top condition.
