How to Make a 100-Yard Bow Shot

Practice and the proper equipment will help you make a 100-yard bow shot. Archery is a sport requiring strength, endurance and persistence. Whether you compete in tournaments or enjoy bow hunting, practice during the off-season will prepare you to hit the 100-yard target. Use the right bow customized for your comfort, and add the proper accessories to achieve your 100-yard goal.

Instructions

    • 1

Use the right bow for you. Find a bow that can shoot more than 240 feet per second and that has limb-forward positioning and a grip that adjusts.

    • 2

Add an archery stabilizer to your bow to reduce vibration and noise. Use a lightweight front-end weighted stabilizer customized for you.

    • 3

Practice during the off-season. Aim for distances beyond 100 yards to increase skill and confidence when it comes time to hit the 100-yard mark. Adjust the grips and other features of your bow to your comfort for optimum performance.

    • 4

Place your index finger above the arrow, and keep the third and fourth fingers below. Keep all fingers off the arrow, and do not pinch it. Lift the bow, then aim and draw when the sight reaches the same level as your eye.

    • 5

Focus on the center of your target. Wait a few seconds, and refrain from squinting. Relax your body, then release the string while continuing to pull back on the arrow. Keep your arm pointing at the target throughout the process.
