How to Bring Deer Out During the Day

Deer are known to be quite timid and reluctant to travel in open areas during daylight hours. If you're a hunter or just someone who enjoys watching deer, you'll have to bait to coax them out during the day. Remember that if you scatter food to attract the deer, other animals in the area may eat the feed before the deer has a chance to see or smell it.

Instructions

    • 1

Purchase deer scent from your local hunting store. Leave drops of the scent on the forest floor that leads to an open position where you can see the deer or take a clear shot.

    • 2

Soak a matching set of deer antlers in a bucket of water a week before you use them. This will replenish their moisture. When attracting the deer with the antlers, set up close to an open area and wear gloves when you rattle them together. If you don't have access to natural antlers, you can purchase artificial antlers from a hunting store.

Rinse out your coffee can and cover the outside of it with camouflage tape. Place 2 cups of peanut butter and 2 cups of molasses in it. Stir the ingredients together. Place the can with the lid off in an open, sunny area. The sun will warm the mixture and reveal a strong sent to nearby deer.

Purchase a deer feeder from your local hunting supply store. Fill the feeder with rice or corn and place it in area close to a wooded area. Add apples to the feeder if the deer are not attracted to it. Placing a water tray nearby will also bring the deer out.
