The Specifications of an AquaTrax R-12X

The AquaTrax R-12X is a high-performance personal watercraft manufactured by Honda. First released in 2003, the R-12X was manufactured for four years until it was discontinued in 2007. It is built for speed and includes a powerplant and technology features that make it ideal for racing.
  1. Engine

    • The R-12X features a 1235c 4-stroke, 4-cylinder turbocharged engine. It revs to 7,000 RPMs and makes a total of 165 horsepower. The engine is powerful and efficient, and it meets CARB and Environmental Protection Agency emissions standards. A forward-located 16.6-gallon gas tank houses the fuel.

    Hull

    • The hull is designed for low-speed and high-speed cornering. The full V-type hull is made of lightweight, fiberglass-reinforced plastic. It also features a dry-sump engine compartment, which places the engine lower in the hull for a low center of gravity. A lower center of gravity increases the craft's stability and performance under hard cornering.

    Steering System

    • The R-12X features an ECU off-throttle steering system to help with emergency cornering. This system provides extra turning power when the throttle is disengaged for better cornering. A quick-trim lever is also included that allows the driver to redirect the jet nozzles for sharper high-speed cornering.

    Instruments

    • An LCD display provides speed, distance and travel time indicators as well as a clock. This waterproof display also includes an analog bar graph to display engine speed as well as fuel level. Audible warnings inform drivers of various engine problems such as low fuel, battery or coolant problems.

    Limit Mode

    • The limit mode feature allows drivers to set the maximum speed so the craft is easier to control for inexperienced drivers. The top speed can be lowered or raised to prevent accidents.
