How to Start a 1997 Yamaha XL760

The Yamaha XL760 WaveRunner is a personal recreational watercraft. Personal watercraft are a hybrid between a boat and ski-doo. The hull of the watercraft resembles that of a boat, providing a stable platform. The top portion of the Yamaha XL760 WaveRunner looks similar to a ski-doo with handle bar steering design and large seat that can hold up to two adults. WaveRunners use a thrust steering design where the water is directed into the internal engine then shot out of back of the WaveRunner through a movable nozzle that will steer the WaveRunner. Starting the Yamaha XL760 is an easy process.

Instructions

Lift the seat on the WaveRunner, remove the gas filler gap and inspect the amount of gas that is in the tank. Pull the oil dipstick from the engine and make sure the oil level is above the "Add more" line. If the oil is at or below the "Add more" line add the correct oil for your WaveRunner before you start it.

Connect the emergency engine shut off tether line to you and the WaveRunner. This is a cord that will connect to your wrist and then to the WaveRunner. If you fall off of the WaveRunner while it is in operation, the line disconnects from the WaveRunner and engine immediately stops.
