Yamaha WaveBlaster Riding Tips

If you love the water, buying a personal watercraft like the Yamaha WaveBlaster can be a great choice. These personal watercraft allow you to get out and enjoy the water whenever you want--just hook up your trailer, drive to your favorite body of water and enjoy a day of fun and excitement. It is important for everyone who uses your WaveBlaster to know how to operate it safely and properly.
  1. Put Safety First

    • Before you operate any type of watercraft, including the Yamaha WaveBlaster, it is important to make sure you have all of the proper safety equipment you will need. When you purchased your personal watercraft you should have received a list of recommended safety equipment--if not, it is a good idea to make your own list. When operating your Yamaha WaveBlaster, make sure you always wear a life jacket. This life jacket will keep you afloat should you fall off the watercraft unexpectedly. It is also a good idea to protect yourself by wearing a wetsuit. A regular swimsuit simply does not provide adequate protection, especially when riding at high speeds and making sharp turns. Keep in mind that the water from a jet ski is expelled at a high rate of speed, and you will need to protect yourself.

    Riding Safety

    • Before anyone is allowed to operate your Yamaha WaveBlaster it is important to give them a quick safety course on how to start the engine, how to stop the engine and how to properly operate the controls. Without this basic safety information new riders may panic and inadvertently cause injuries. Make sure everyone who rides your WaveBlaster knows where the "stop" button is--this will stop the engine and help prevent injury in the event a rider falls off. Also be sure riders are adept at using the throttle controls before they are allowed to ride solo. Riders should also know how to right the WaveBlaster if it capsizes--to right the unit, swim to the back of it and carefully turn it upright. After the WaveBlaster is upright you can board from the rear and continue riding.

    Be a Courteous Boater

    • It is important for WaveBlaster users to keep in mind that they are not the only ones on the water. If the weather is nice, chances are there will be a good mix of jet skiers, recreational boaters and fishermen on the water. Always use courtesy when passing other boating enthusiasts and make sure you slow down as you pass. The water spray coming off the back of a fast-moving WaveBlaster can be quite intense, so make sure you take others into consideration as you ride.
