How to Decorate Your Kayak

Kayak decorations should be an expression of the personality of the paddler. Keep in mind the elements that the decorated kayak will be sailing through. All decorations should be waterproof and environmentally friendly.

  • Battery-operated lights
  • Christmas tinsel garland
  • Grass skirt
  • Plastic vines and flowers
  • Spray paint

      Secure a string of battery-operated lights around the seat and interior rim of the kayak with electrical tape. Ensure the lights are inside in the kayak.

      Attach strings of Christmas tinsel garland to the outside and inside of the kayak. Secure with electrical or duct tape.

      Create a Tiki kayak by cutting the middle of a grass skirt. Extend the skirt to create a long line of hanging grass and attach to the outside of the kayak. Twist the stems of plastic flowers around the grass skirt.

      Create an urban-looking kayak. Spray paint the outside of the kayak with graffit, names, sayings and designs.
